We experience God’s power when we surrender to be used by Him. God releases His power through us as we walk in obedience to Him. There are three ways in which He releases His power for believers: O ne is through the fruit of the Holy Spirit only God's power enables us to exhibit love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, which reveal the character of Christ in us. Secondly is through the work we are called to do Zechariah 4:6. God will not place you into a position or ask you to accomplish a task for which He will not fully equip and enable you. Finally is through witnessing. Scripture always refers to the power of the Holy Spirit in relationship to witnessing and glorifying God. It is His power through us that inspires us and carries out the work. Power for believers can be achieved through prayers. Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which though you don’t know Jeremiah 33:3. Prayer is a powerful weapon in the hands of a believer. All we have to do is call on Him. When Peter was in prison after the church called a prayer meeting God spoke to Peter; “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven Mathew 16:18-19. The power of binding & loosing is unleashed (released) in the power of prayer! Look at Daniel, he fasted & prayed for 21 days and an angel appeared to him. The angel told him that the Lord heard him when he began to pray. The heavens were opened when he prayed. When we get to the place where we learn to take the authority in prayer then the things which the enemy has taken from us, God will see to it that we get them back.
Reasons for powerlessness
Lack of faith. Scripture warns, "Without faith it is impossible to please God"and "whatsoever is not offaith is sin." There is always power for believers who have faith in God. Rebellion against God will lead to powerlessness. As the quote from Isaiah 59 warns, a consequence of ignoring or rebelling against God's directives is to distance ourselves from God's goodness. Not surrendering your life to God. If you decide to choose your own way and call all of your own shots (to have your own control policy), then God will not be anointing you with His divine power or guiding you every step of your way and you will then be forced to try and find your own way, all without any of God’s help, power, or guidance. Disobedience. And the people said unto Joshua, “The Lord our God will we serve, and His voice will we OBEY” Joshua. 24:24. “To OBEY is better than sacrifice” I Samuel 15:22. People can read the Bible all their life, but if they don’t OBEY God, do what He says, it won’t do any good. Faith without works is dead James 2:17. They will lose everything, their souls. Saul was the king of Israel for a while he obeyed God in everything, but in one point he disobeyed. All the good he had done was no longer to his credit. Disobedience dissolved it.
