An intercessor works as watchman who watches the souls of men over the city (Isaiah 62:6-7). For instance, Abraham was a watchman (Genesis14:13-16, 18:16-33). The ministry of intercessors is pivotal and primary in the welfare and church growth and church survival. Being an intercessor is a command from God (Isaiah 62:6-7). When there are intercessors in the church, the souls of believers remain focused in God, the land is healed when the followers of Jesus intercede (2 chronicles 7:14). Intercession brings divine empowerment over the church (Genesis 32:28, Mathew 18:19), and also brings divine protection to the lives of believers, property and Ministries of God since there is an enemy who doesn’t want the church to progress (1 peter 5:8). An intercessor will also bring revival and conversion of souls in the community. People get deep revelations of the scripture through intercessory prayers Act 4:23, Act 6:12-16, Act 12:5-11, Act 16:23-26. We also get great favor before congregation and before God (Nehemiah 1:14, Nehemiah 2:1-8.) All the demonic activities and powers of darkness are destroyed through intercession. For one to qualify as an intercessor MUST be born again. (John 3:3, Ephesians 6:17). Intercessors also need to have sanctification, meaning that an intercessor should have the real heart of holiness (Hebrews 12:14). An intercessor must go through the fire of the Holy Ghost Baptism and Intercessors should be followers with large hearts and preacher of the gospel (Ezekiel 3; 17-18). Outpouring of the Holy Ghost in the church and manifestation of gifts comes as a result of intercession. When believers pray there is conversion of souls and establishment of new converts and the demonic yokes and strongholds are broken through intercession. There are various challenges that an intercessor goes through which are depicted in Genesis 33:4, Mathew; 17:21, Mark 8:34, 35 2corinthians 11:22, 28; They include; Backsliding spirit, selfishness, Prayers and fasting becomes a challenge to them sometimes.
