Satan's attack on the first marriage in the Garden caused the fall of man and loss of rulership of the world. Prior to the Flood, demons cohabited with women in a demonic attack upon Marriage Culture which almost destroyed the entire human race. In the Church Age, the enemy is unseen, but Satan is vigilant in his attack upon marriage. Demons are actively engaged in the destruction of Marriage Culture from childhood, through the teens, and into adulthood. The spirit of destroying spiritual marriages started in the Garden of Eden when Satan in his genius decided to attack the first marriage to convince the man and the woman to sin. He started with the woman. Adam had already proven his willingness to obey God, and the woman, who was a responder, was the logical choice to persuade to sin. There are evil attacks against Christian marriages and families, and the biblical proof text is found in (Ephesians 6:12) "Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." We Christians are all in a spiritual battle with Satan and his demonic hordes (army). He sees all of God's children as his enemy. He wants to destroy us, and one of his most vicious attacks is against Christian marriages and families. His method of operation is stated in how the two of us personally paraphrase the first part of (John 10:10), "Satan comes to steal and kill and destroy every Christian marriage." The strategy of the enemy is to destroy all marriages. By destroying spiritual marriages, Satan does two things. First, he hurts your relationship with God, and second, he hurts your testimony to those who don't believe in God. Evil one goes to the point of destroying spiritual marriages because marriage is a picture of Christ's relationship with His bride, the Church (Ephesians 5:25-32). If Satan can destroy Christian marriages, he can destroy Christ's testimony to unbelievers. We know that God had a wonderful working plan for our marriage, just as He does for yours, if you are married. That plan is found in the latter part of our paraphrased (John 10:10), "I (Jesus) have come that Christian marriages may have life, and have it to the full." That's what happens to a marriage that is truly yielded to the Lord. It is a completely full life. It takes three to have a championship marriage, the Lord as the coach and the husband and wife as the team players.
Weapons against destroying spiritual marriages
Some weapons to help us to deal with destroying spiritual marriages in our own lives and the lives of the others are as the following; The word of the Lord is best weapon that one can use against destroying spiritual marriages. Paul would speak the truth of God’s word. The word is our life and sets us free. We must hold onto it all our hearts. We must listen to what the lord says rather than lies and fiery darts of the enemies. Repentance removes the legal base of Satan’s attack. When we confess the false belief that we have carried most of our lives, God is able to remove the legal base and He is able to break through the fear that has controlled us. He can speak to our hearts in a new way where we are able to experience His peace and love in a new dimension. Prayer applies for the blood, cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It enables us hear and receive the word of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:18), “And pray in spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayer and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” Finally, personal testimony can be applied in raising fight against destroying spiritual marriages. We overcome enemy by the word of our testimony. Personal testimonies touch into the feeling part of our being. Personal testimony given in a spirit of humility helps us to identify with others. “They overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony.” (Revelation 12:11).
